Charlie is four and is a lovely little boy
He plays all day with his favourite toy.
It’s not a car and it’s not a plane.
It’s not a car and it’s not a train.
It’s a sort of boat where inside is kept
The very biggest and best secret.
There’s just you and me, so I’ll tell you now.
I’ll tell you why, and where and how.
Please don't tell anyone or make a fuss
This secret is between the two of us.
It’s nothing horrid and it’s nothing bad.
Although I suspect his Mum and Dad
Know all about his pride and joy
They must’ve seen him with this toy.
I shall say it quietly so no one hears
The boats full of animals he’s had for years.
A horse, a lion, a hen and a cat,
A zebra, a pig and a duck that’s fat.
So quite a few. Don’t be upset
For if I list them here, you’ll forget.
All have names like Tumble, you see.
There’s Fizzy and Spud, Buss and Pee
So pretty soon I think you’ll know,
Charlie’s Ark and who told you so.
