
Another great property from the Creators of Bagpuss and The Clangers, Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin originally created 42 black and white Ivor the Engine films in 1959.
In the early 70’s the original films were remade and 40, five minute, colour films were shown on mainstream TV throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. Today the series can still be seen on Channel 4 and Nickelodeon Junior.
This famous little railway is probably one of the best known and best loved railways in Wales . Although everything in the series is totally fictitious, it does not detract from the reality of the stations and people who live in that imaginary place. The stories which revolve around Ivor the Engine and his driver – Jones the Steam, Dai the Station Master, the extremely snooty Mrs Porty and Idris the Dragon have delighted children and adults for more than three generations. |
